FAQ

Frequently asked questions. Honest answers.

General educational answers about cataract, refractive surgery, lens choice and recovery. They do not replace an individualized medical consultation.

Cataract

Questions about cataract and surgery.

Does cataract surgery hurt?

Most patients report little or no pain. Surgery is usually performed with local anesthesia, and comfort measures are individualized.

How long does recovery take?

Many patients notice improvement in the first days, but healing and adaptation vary. Drops and follow-up visits are part of recovery.

Does every cataract need surgery?

No. Surgery is usually considered when cataract affects daily activities or prevents adequate evaluation of the back of the eye.

Which intraocular lens should I choose?

The choice depends on eye anatomy, visual habits, astigmatism, retina, cornea and tolerance for optical tradeoffs.

Can I be free of glasses?

Some patients reduce glasses dependence, but no lens guarantees perfect vision at every distance.

Refractive surgery

Questions about PRK, LASIK and degree correction.

Is refractive surgery safe?

It can be safe for well-selected candidates, but indication depends on detailed examination and exclusion of risk factors.

Who cannot have refractive surgery?

Patients with suspicious corneas, unstable prescription, uncontrolled dry eye or certain ocular/systemic conditions may not be good candidates.

LASIK or PRK: which is better?

Neither is universally better. The decision depends on corneal anatomy, degree, lifestyle and safety criteria.

Is the result permanent?

The treated degree is intended to be stable, but the eye can change over time, and presbyopia or other conditions may still appear.

How much does it cost? Do you accept insurance?

Values, insurance coverage and scheduling details should be checked directly with the Scopo team.
